Welcome to the Party

So, I admit I’m pretty late to the blogging game.  So late, in fact, that I may actually be fashionably retro.  But probably just late enough so that people will wonder why I’ve bothered at all.  Kind of like turning up to a New Year’s Eve party so long after midnight that the host has actually gone to bed.  Which, incidentally, I have done.

I don’t know why I haven’t done it before, or why I’m contemplating doing it even now.  I guess as a stay-at-home-mom to a 15 month old I need a creative outlet.  As T’s play is getting more independent and imaginative, I’m suddenly inspired to flex my right brain.  And as the last of the autumn leaves fall to the ground, I realize it’s going to be a very long winter with lots of dark mornings and even darker early evenings (seriously, mid-December.  3pm.  Pitch black!)

So then it all got me thinking – why blog?  What’s in it for me?  Has anyone ever gotten rich blogging?  I googled it.  It turns out the answer is yes, they have.  I probably won’t.  But it’s nice to know it’s a possibility, however remote.  I started thinking about the different reasons people blog.  They chronicle their trials in home renovation, immigration, education, motherhood, fatherhood, childhood, illness, exercise, health, marriage, singledom, fertility, pregnancy, adoption, innovation, invention.  The list is endless.  But basically, they all have something to say.

I’m not sure that I do.  Not in any regimented or thematic sense anyway.

So I don’t know, really, why anyone read this without-a-purpose, willy-nilly blog.  I’m predicting it might a bit about a little bit of renovation, part innovation, some immigration and a whole lot of marriage and motherhood.  But I promise to try to keep it from becoming the my-kid-is-the-most-amazing-in-the-world variety (even though he is naturally!).   But I guess these things are what make up me at the moment.  So, if you care to come back, I’ll be here.  Probably.
